Comparisons / parity marked plainly
How YTT Secunet compares, row by row.
Every option on these pages can route an AI request. The questions that decide a security review are different: who chooses the jurisdiction, what happens on failover, and what evidence exists afterwards.
- YTT Secunet edgeWe do this and the alternative does not, or does it only with custom work.
- ParityBoth do it well enough that it should not decide your choice.
- Alternative edgeThe alternative is stronger. We say so and explain when it matters.
| YTT Secunet vs | YTT Secunet edge | Parity | Alternative edge | Choose the alternative when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Generic API gateways | 7 | 1 | 4 | Every user, every tenant and every model endpoint sit in the same jurisdiction, so a static upstream is all the routing you need. |
| DIY multi-region cloud routing | 8 | 1 | 3 | You use one cloud, one model provider and one jurisdiction, and native controls such as an Azure Policy that denies Global deployments already give you what auditors ask for. |
| Azure OpenAI direct with the EU Data Boundary | 7 | 2 | 3 | Azure OpenAI is your only model provider and the EU is your only regulatory regime. |
| Cloudflare AI Gateway | 7 | 1 | 5 | Your main goals are caching, cost control, rate limiting and observability across several model providers. |
| Kong AI Gateway | 5 | 3 | 5 | Kong is already your API platform and the team knows its configuration model, plugin lifecycle and upgrade path. |
These are the ten questions we see in enterprise security questionnaires for AI features. Tick the ones the option in front of you can answer with an artefact: a config file, a receipt, a verifier run, a subprocessor list.

A router, not a residency control
Traffic may land in the right region most of the time, but you cannot show it did. Expect long security reviews for AI features.
Score the option you run today, then score us. Count an item only if the vendor can show you the artefact, not a slide.
A comparison you can take into a design review.
Most of the options here are good products that solve a different problem. An API gateway manages your API estate. A hyperscaler's data boundary keeps that hyperscaler's services in a geography. An AI gateway adds caching, analytics and rate limits for model calls. YTT Secunet decides which legal jurisdiction may process each request, enforces it in the data path and signs a record of the outcome.
We describe other products from their public documentation, generically where a detail is uncertain, and we never claim a capability they have not published or deny one they have. Each matrix marks three kinds of row. Where the alternative is stronger, the row says so, and the “choose the alternative when” list comes before ours.
Same questions for everyone
Rows follow the questions in DPO and CISO questionnaires, not our feature list.
Combined setups count
Many teams keep their gateway and add YTT Secunet for inference. The migration steps assume that.
Honest boundary
YTT Secunet does not host models, give legal advice or make any US-parented provider CLOUD Act immune.
Corrections welcome
If a row about your product is out of date, write to hello@yttsecunet.com and we will review it.
Why do these pages mark rows where the alternative is better?
Because it is true, and a DPO or platform architect will find out anyway. API gateways manage far more than inference traffic, and a single-cloud setup has fewer moving parts. We mark those rows so the comparison is useful when you take it into a design review.
Can YTT Secunet run alongside the gateway we already have?
Yes, and that is the usual pattern. Your existing gateway keeps authentication, quotas and the rest of your API estate. Inference calls go through YTT Secunet, which decides the jurisdiction, masks personal data and signs the receipt.
How current are the descriptions of other products?
They are written from each vendor's public documentation and reviewed when that documentation changes. Cloud products add regions and features often, so check the vendor's current docs before a decision, and tell us at hello@yttsecunet.com if something here is out of date.
Is building residency routing in-house a reasonable choice?
For a single cloud, a single region and no audit requirement, often yes. The cost appears when you add a second zone, in-zone failover, PII masking, policy reviews by legal and evidence an auditor can verify. The DIY comparison walks through that build.
